Weiss: I will oversee the corporate banking division myself but I will not turn Bancpost into a corporate bank
Bancpost has many clients, also products, but multiple sales
have not functioned so far, and relationships with clients are
weak. Retail brings the largest part of revenues, but a systemic
bank needs to be stronger on the corporate side as well. The area
of large corporations is not sufficiently accessed. Costs need to
be closely watched, and the bank needs to revert to sustainable
profitability, inclusively on the rising market share.
This is the general diagnostic given by Peter Weiss, a CEO with
Bancpost since January 1, brought by Greek EFG Eurobank with the
task of running the turnaround of the bank celebrating 20
years.
Peter Weiss, 51, will personally run the Bancpost's corporate
banking unit, planning to turn the bank into a relevant player
inclusively on the niche of large companies, balancing the ratio
between retail and corporate revenues.
"We're not seeking a corporate banking head as I will personally
oversee this area. However, I will not turn Bancpost into a
corporate bank, but the target is to turn it into a more balanced
bank. (...),"Weiss says.
