The most important zonal urban plan (PUZ) the City Hall has approved since the start of the year was obtained by Metav Bucureşti company, controlled through Meteor company by businessman Gabriel Popoviciu, who is preparing a real estate megaproject on Metav platform near Băneasa airport.

The PUZ Popoviciu got entails the possibility of erecting buildings with a 200,000 square metre area on a 19.5 hectare site on Biharia Street, close to Băneasa bridge on Aerogării Boulevard, where the businessman plans to develop both offices, retail and logistic space, and housing units with a 50,000 square metre area, the equivalent of 600 three-room apartments of 80 square metres.

At present, there are several logistic facilities on the Metav site, as well as office space, with part of them to be taken down.

In the area allotted for the construction of housing units, the PUZ allows for the raising of some buildings with a maximum height of 30 metres, namely 8-10 storeys. However, the PUZ does not stand for a building licence, so that until plans are finalised, the project is likely to suffer further modifications.
