Ilie Vonica, who controls Polisano group with turnover worth above 300m euros on the pharmaceutical and private health services markets, is contemplating strong expansion this year on the segment of private clinics and hospitals through new openings, but also continues developing other business lines.

A hospital taking almost 20m euros, in Sibiu, is at the top of the list.

In an interview with Ziarul Financiar, Vonica conveyed an upbeat message, saying things were getting better in the business and banking environments.

The businessman can be considered as one of the most powerful entrepreneurs in the pharmaceutical and healthcare services industries.

Last year, the businessman announced he was making investments in a drug plant in Sibiu, the only business segment he had not tackled until then. Through this investment, Vonica becomes one of the few Romanian entrepreneurs still holding production facilities.

"I've always wanted to grow in the drug industry, as well. Currently, the project is called Polipharma Industries. The project is developed over several years and it entails investments worth several million euros. It will be one of the largest drug plants in Romania," explained the businessman.
