Annual inflation down to 4.38% in June
12 iul 2010
The annual inflation rate fell slightly in June, to 4.38%, amid the cheapening of food for the second consecutive month, with figures meeting analysts' expectations.
Food prices fell by 0.1% per month because of a positive
seasonal effect and of the contraction of household demand, says
Eugen Sinca, BCR analyst.
Monthly inflation was 0.16% in June, with the rise of consumer
prices being primarily prompted by the increase in service fees, by
almost 0.6%, amid depreciation of the RON against the euro. Air
transport fares, as well as telephony fees rose by 1.58%.
Non-food commodities became 0.16% more expensive in June against
May, amid rises in the price of fuels, books, and of magazines.
