"In terms of volume, the growth of exports was small, from 4.3 to4.4 million tonnes, but the value exceeded 800 million euros in2010, compared with around 600 million euros in 2009, thanks to theprice rise by up to 90% on international markets," said VictorBeznea, chairman of the Romanian Association of AgriculturalProducts Traders.
Grain exports have therefore come to account for over 2% of allRomanian exports, estimated at 36 billion euros in 2010 by theNational Association of Exporters and Importers in Romania(ANEIR).
Whilst names such as Dacia and Nokia feature frequently in theexport statistics of the last few years, as drivers of the exportsmarket - Cargill and Alfred Toepfer continue to keep a low profile, despite being among the top exporters of consumer goods in Romania, according to ANEIR data.
