Biggest cattle owner in Romania has 3,086 cows

Italian, Greek, Jewish, French, Dutch, Cypriot and Lebaneseinvestors control half of the 20 companies with the highest numberof cattle in Romania.
The biggest owner is Primo Cezar company of Brasov, which last yearhad over 3,000 head, according to the Agency for Payments andIntervention in Agriculture (APIA).
Primo Cezar has 24 employees and reached 5.8m-euro turnover in2009, posting 200,000-euro gross income, according to the latestFinance Ministry data. The firm is owned in partnership by CezarManuel Florescu and Dutch-born businessman Dirk-Jente LickleKuipers.
Last year, cattle owners received subsidies worth around 115meuros, for 1.2 million cattle. Primo Cezar firm, the biggest owner,is also the biggest subsidy beneficiary, getting over 300,000 eurosfrom the state last year.
Cezar Florescu, Primo Cezar owner, says he focused on foreignmarkets as prices are better than in Romania and payments are madefaster.
Smaller farms deliver beef to the domestic market.
