Deutsche Telekom manager in charge of Romania resigns three years before term end

Guido Kerkhoff, Deutsche Telekom manager who had been in chargewith the CEE operations of Europe's biggest communications groupsince 2009, has unexpectedly announced his decision to leave thecompany three years before his term is due to end.
Kerkhoff has been closely involved in the coordination ofoperations carried out in Romania, one of the biggest markets theGerman group entered with the acquisition of a 30% stake inOTE.
During meetings between DT management and investment banks'analysts, Kerkhoff was the one to announce OTE's objectives inRomania.
Kerkhoff is leaving at a time when Deutsche Telekom is due to makea key decision as regards its involvement on the Romanian market.Deutsche Telekom and OTE Greek group are due to tell the Romaniangovernment next month whether they plan to acquire the 46% stakethe Romanian state still holds in Romtelecom, which ranks first infixed telephony, second in fixed Internet and third on the TVmarket in Romania.
