The Regional Development and Tourism Ministry (MDRT) istendering modernisation and rehabilitation works for 1,386 km ofcounty and local roads of eight counties, with the total estimatedvalue of these projects amounting to 1.78bn lei (436.6m euros), VATnot included.
Thus, on average, one kilometre of county or local road,modernised or rehabilitated, will cost 315,000 euros, VAT notincluded.
The eight counties included in this tender, divided into fourpackages, are Covasna, Braşov, Caraş Severin, Mehedinţi, Brăila,Galaţi, Tulcea and Constanţa and the works are expected to becompleted in 2013.
The investments are part of the National InfrastructureDevelopment Programme estimated at around 3.3bn euros, the biggesttender in Romania's history in terms of value.
Unlike other infrastructure works, the programme will beinitially funded by builders and starting 2013 the futuregovernments will cover the value of works as they arefinalised.
