Government comes up with third plan to reboot economy

The companies with debts to the state and which are also owed money by the state will become part of an offset system, whereby the two entities will offset their debts, stipulates a new plan on support for the economy considered by the Government. At the same time, the newly established companies that invest 500,000 euros and hire 25 people could get a five-year profit tax holiday.
The plan will be announced next week. This is the third reboot plan devised since Emil Boc took office at the Victoria Palace (Government HQ) - the previous two were devised around the "Rabla" old car scrappage scheme and the "First Home" scheme.
"It has been discussed (by the coalition i.e.); the plan will be announced when finished, which is most likely next week," Administration Minister Vasile Blaga said yesterday. Deputy Sulfina Barbu, former Environment Minister, who is in charge of the group setting the new measures, says the plan will be discussed with the business sector for a month and could come into force in September.
The business sector, however, is sceptical about the new plan. Cristian Parvan, general secretary of the Association of Businesspeople of Romania (AOAR) says the latest steps taken by the Government when it amended the Fiscal Code do more harm than good for the business sector, while the new reboot plan is nothing but an intention that cannot be taken seriously unless applied.
"It's July 12 (yesterday i.e.). When does one propose these steps, when does one take them, when do they enforce and when do they produce effects?" Parvan wonders.
