The Communications and Information Society Ministry (MCSI) isdue to reveal in the next two or three months a new strategy on theshift to digital television, in sync with the decisions of the EUCouncil's decision in this field, Communications Minister ValerianVreme stated yesterday. "There is a ministry department in chargewith drawing up this strategy," Vreme stated.
Asked about the way the ministry will act in terms of grantingof a licence to a state-controlled entity, Vreme said the "plusesand minuses" or several choices are being considered.
The government in August decided to postpone the date on whichanalogue television is to cease transmission by three years, toJanuary 1, 2015, accounting for its decision by the need to avoidmaking citizens buy new equipment in a crisis period and to securea reasonable term for operators to adapt.
