Nestle Romania steps into the black

13.03.2007, 20:33 8

Nestle Romania turned a profit in 2006 compared with the 0.9 million-euro losses in 2005, after improving its distribution system and diversifying its portfolio, according to data provided by the Ministry of Finance. The company witnessed a 120 million-euro turnover last year, 13-14 million euros of which accounted for sales of the ice cream producer Delta Romania, bought in an international transaction in 2006. "Last year we saw an approximately 23% organic growth compared with 2005 (without taking into account the variation of the exchange rate), and I estimate an increase of 20% for this year," stated Paul Nuber, general manager of Nestle Romania. However, Nuber did not reveal the level of profit. Nestle Romania posted an 82 million-euro turnover in 2005, which included sales of pet care products (the Nestle Purina division). The company's business could exceed 144 million euros by the end of this year. "We have improved the distribution system, which is very flexible due to the trend seen lately by the retail market, so that we are currently present in more stores throughout the country (...)," Nuber commented.
