Omniasig insurance company, a member of the Austrian group Vienna Insurance, intends to open five new claim settlement centres by the end of 2008, in co-operation with the Police. The company opened the first such centre a year ago in the Capital City, and has recently set up another one in Arad. These centres are destined to help simplify the damage assessment and claim settlement procedures. Omniasig is one of the biggest insurance companies in Romania, with business worth 354 million RON (over 106 million euros) in the first half of the year. Against the same time last year, gross underwritten premiums handled by the company increased 56%. The value of CASCO (comprehensive insurance) and RCA (auto liability insurance) policies sold by Omniasig has reached 261 million RON (78.3 million euros). The company posted a double profit in the first half of the year against the same time in 2005, of 13 million RON (3.9 million euros).
