SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO), which manages assets worth 1.5 billion lei (almost EUR360 million) and invests in over 150 companies, has completed a EUR12 million investment in a Pite[ti hospital, a project in which the company has Cristian Celea, former chairman of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), as its partner.

"(...) We were contacted by a group of doctors who needed funding," said Petre Szel, chairman of SAI Muntenia Invest, the manager of SIF Muntenia assets.

He specified the first contact with the doctors was two years and a half ago, but that the project actually materialized with another group of doctors, which included Cristian Celea.

Szel specified the Pite[ti hospital was SIF Muntenia's first project on the private healthcare services market and plans for the following period included driving it to full capacity, expanding its team; depending on what happens in the coming months he will also decide over other strategy issues. He means the option of selling or retaining the stake.

"We have had talks with financial groups and we will have further such talks", Szel said.
