Six consortiums left in the race to broker sale of Petrom stake

The bids submitted by six consortiums of banks and brokeragefirms have been accepted by representatives of OPSPI (Office ofState Ownership and Privatisation in Industry) and by those of theEconomy Ministry in the tender to choose the broker for thesecondary offering whereby the state wants to sell 9.84% in OMVPetrom on the Stock Exchange.

The seventh bid, made by the Citibank - BRD-Société Générale, wasreportedly rejected because representatives of the consortium didnot submit it before the deadline (yesterday at 12:00 AM),according to market sources.

The consortiums whose offerings have been accepted are: JP Morganwith BCR and Intercapital Invest, Morgan Stanley with RaiffeisenCapital&Investments, UBS and ING Bank, Goldman Sachs withUniCredit CA IB Securities, Nomura with Alpha Bank and CEC Bank andRenaissance Capital with BT Securities, EFG Eurobank Securities andRomcapital.

The winner of the selection process will be announced in a fewweeks.

The offering to sell 9.84% in Petrom, with an estimated value ofover 500 million euros, will be the biggest transaction in thehistory of the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The Economy Ministry isplanning to launch the offering by mid this year.
