The new SUV will be Dacia's lifeline next year

Dacia, the second-largest privately-held Romanian company interms of 2008 turnover, could launch the new SUV manufactured inMioveni at the Geneva Motor Show in February next year, the latestmodel to be built based on Logan's technical platform. "The SUVwill be our lifeline next year. One cannot simply ask for goodmarket conditions," said Constantin Stroe, Dacia's vice-president.Dacia representatives described the SUV to be launched in Februaryas a lifeline in the context where auto sales will continue tostabilise and orders for Logan models on the Western markets willgo down. "When government schemes to support auto markets areconcluded, there will be consequences. A large part of ouroperations are accounted for by orders from Germany. However, Ithink sales will stabilise because our range is well integrated inthe market," said Francois Fourmont, general manager of Dacia.
