Romania is about to endorse one of the most generous schemesintended to support investment in green energy, with a report ofthe World Bank specifying the current legislation in the field isover 50% more generous than the European regulations.

This means that an investor in Romania that will supply oneMWh of green power to the grid will get 160 euros in case of windpower while investments in wind farms in Europe get an incentive ofabout 90 euros per MWh on the average.

"Romania has established a generous green certificates programto promote the development of renewable energy. Incentives are verygenerous, including 110 euros/MWh for wind plus the revenue fromthe sale of electricity in the market, for a total of 150-160euros/MWh assuming market prices in the range of 40-50 euros/MWh.This is over 50% above the average European support price of about90 euros /MWh, through feed-in tariffs where generators earn noadditional revenue from sales to the market," reads the World Bankreport.
