The Mamaia Festival - a singing show

Tonight at 22.30, the 30th edition of the MamaiaFestival will open.

There are a few years since the festival was relocated to the Soveja Theatre in Constanta. this time the festival will be held where it should - on the stage of the Summer Theatre in Mamaia.

The section that will open the festival is "Interpretation" and will include 14 debutantes.

The organisers of the Mamaia Festival 2000 made up a list with the most listened to dance pop and rock songs of the year. The songs were picked from radio charts.

Pop rock will be represented by the songs "Dac-ai sti" (Directia 5), "Jumatatea mea" (Taxi), "Noi o scoatem la capat" (Vank), "Albinutza" (Voltaj) and "Te iubesc" (Supermarket).

For each category of the sections, according to the rules of the festival, two "spare songs" were prepared to stand in for bands that will be unable to participate to the final stage on August 26.

These songs are: "Crasmarita" (Ro-Mania), "Toata lumea" (Class), "Vino" (Laura Stoica), "Fata cu vioara" (Daniel Robu), "Ultrafete" (Bere Gratis) and "Am cazanul meu" (Desperado).

The main criteria that was employed when the songs were chosen were the positions of the songs in radio charts at 22 stations (out of 40 contacted) and included the most played and listened to songs in the period during September 1st, 1999 - July 30, 2000.

An another criterion for the election of the songs was the sales quota that six producers involved in dealing with this sort of music revealed.

The admission fee for the interpretation, creation and hits nights is 70.000 lei and for the Gala Night (that will take place Sunday) - 100 000 lei.
