German-based company Marquardt Schaltsysteme SCS, a manufacturer of electro-mechanical and electric systems for switches for the automotive industry, has announced that its Sibiu-based plant will operate at full capacity in 2008. Officials anticipate that the Sibiu branch will generate turnover worth some 100 million euros in Romania by that time. The German company produces driver authorisation systems, control panels and panel switches for the automotive sector in Sibiu, with the products made in Sibiu having been transferred from Germany up until now. "Starting next year, we will introduce new products directly at Sibiu. Our main market is Germany, but in the future we intend to find new customers on the Eastern-European markets," Bernd Eriedrich, general manager of Marquardt Schaltsysteme SCS told ZF Transilvania. The main customers of Marquardt Schaltsysteme are international companies in the automotive sector such as BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, DaimlerChrysler and Porsche. According to the general manager, total investment in construction and equipment will amount to some 20 million euros by 2008.
