10,000 euros - biggest monthly rent

The biggest monthly rent paid for an apartment in Bucharest in the last year reaches some 10,000 euros, according to information from the real estate market. "The apartment has a surface area of 440 square metres, being located nearby the Herastrau Park," said Camelia Anton, Senior Consultant with the residential department of DTZ Echinox, the broker of the transaction. Rents in the range of thousands of euros a month are common in the northern area of the Capital City, the destination of choice for members of the diplomatic corps and for heads of multinationals in terms of residence. "Those who pay sums ranging from 3,000 to 8,000 euros a month for a property are big international companies, embassies or VIPs. Big international companies relocate managers from international divisions to Romania and, depending on where they are in the company hierarchy, pay for their accommodation," says Liliana Vasile, manager of the department in charge of residential rents and of relocations at Regatta agency.
