Nuclearelectrica to become biggest power producer

Nuclearelectrica, operating the Cernavoda power station, will become the biggest producer of electrical power in 2007, after its second reactor starts operating, stated Viorel Marculescu, deputy manager of Unit II. According to Marculescu, the second reactor will start operating at full capacity (700 MWh) next July. With two functional reactors, Cernavoda station will secure 18-20% of the domestic power consumption. "The construction of the second reactor of Cernavoda nuclear plant cost 917 million euros," stated Economy and Trade minister Codrut Seres.
