Siceram doubles capacity

Sighisoara-based ceramic construction supplies manufacturer Siceram has completed works on a new production facility, with the total investment standing at more than 2.8 million euros. With the new factory for Termobloc construction supplies, the company''s production capacity has increased by around 120%. "The manufacturing technology is completely automated and was supplied by the Italian company Marcheluzzo, meaning that the new product will be fully compliant with European standards," Nicolae Neag, Sicerom''s commercial director, told ZF Transilvania. He said the Termobloc bricks would be sold exclusively on the domestic market. The main reason for this is that such bricks are so heavy that they cannot be transported over very long distances. Sic eram announced a 22% growth in turnover for the first half of 2005, compared with the same time last year, when its turnover reached 3.7 million euros. The company expects full-year turnover to reach 12 million euros, up 33% on 2004. ZF
