PN?CD again affected by intestine conflicts

PN?CD (National Peasants' Party), the former governing party credited with 3% of the electorate by the latest opinion poll, is in the qualms of a new crisis generated by the resignation of chairman Andrei Marga, elected by party members six months ago.

As PN?CD head resigned, another two PN?CD leaders stepped down: prime-vice president Vasile Lupu and general secretary Calin Catalin Chirita, both Marga's supporters.

The former president had recommended Vasile Lupu as interim president, but PN?CD leaders ignored the will of Cluj-based professor and appointed Victor Ciorbea for this position, as he rejoined the party several months ago.

Vasile Lupu chose to step down following the refusal of PN?CD leaders to appoint him interim president by December elections, when the new leading structures will be elected.
