1.3m Romanians surfed the web in 2000

About 1.3 million Romanians surfed the web at least once in 2000, according to a survey of Mediaresearch company, published on the www.eMarketer.com site.

The number of inhabitants aged over 14 to have accessed the virtual network considered, Romania ranks among the bottom positions in Central and Eastern European countries top with 7%, while Slovenia ranks first (37%), according to this study.

Russia, with 4.1 million web surfers, ranks penultimate (3%), followed by Ukraine, where only 2% or those aged over 14 surfed the web last year. Out of the total web pages, those in Romanian account for nearly 0.05%, compared with 1.88% in Russian or 0.32% in Czech.
