Fornetti makes 3.5m euros from pastries

Pastry producer Fornetti last year posted a turnover worth 62.7 million RON (17.3 million euros), a 47% increase against 2004, and a gross profit worth 12.8 million RON (3.5 million euros), up 63.5%. Fornetti posted a turnover worth 39.8 million RON in 2004 and a gross profit worth 7.8 million RON. Last year, the company had a production of 13 million kilos of pastries (some 520 million pastries). The Capital's market is the most profitable for Fornetti, with over 40% of the company's production being sold in Bucharest. It is in Bucharest where the company has a branch and a cold storage facility, in which 400,000 euros were invested. Last year the company undertook its biggest investment, spending 3.5 million euros in a bid to double its production capacity. The new plant, located in Timisoara, has generated an increase in production to 1,700 tonnes a month, increasing from the 950 tonnes at the end of 2004.
