Ziarul Financiar 11.01.2006
The average net wage in the banking sector rose by nearly 30% to 2,660 RON (728 euros) in November. This trend was due to bonuses and perks, the National Statistics Institute says. Thanks to this increase, the employees of the banking system consolidated their position as the best-paid Romanian employees. Bank employees made three times as much as the average in the economy in November, given that the average net wage was 774 RON (212 euros). The average net wage was 4.3% higher than in October 2005 and nearly 24% higher than in the same month of 2004. Public servants were another category to made more money in November, with their wages going up by nearly 9% to 1,200 RON (329 euros). Public servants thus benefited from their second raise in a row after having got an 11% indexation in October 2005. The increases obtained by public servants in October and November are surprising, given that the traditional months for such moves are December and January. ZF
