Bistrita-based Rombat, the leading domestic car battery manufacturer, estimates a 36.6 million-euro turnover this year, an 11.8% increase against the total derived last year, when this indicator stood at approximately 32.3 million euros. "Turning these estimates into results depends predominantly on the price stability and the availability of lead as raw material," Ioan Repede, general manager of Rombat told ZF Transilvania. According to him, turnover in 2006 saw its biggest increase in the second part of the year, about 45% increase against the first part of last year, which had witnessed a 16.47% rise. "Our sector usually records better results in the second half of the year, because we derive most of our sales during the colder seasons. Results were further boosted last year as we increased sales on foreign markets by up to 50%," specified Ioan Repede. Acc ording to data provided by the company management in 2006, 25% of the company's turnover was derived from exports to such destinations as France, Portugal, Belgium, Algeria, the Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria and Greece.
