Ziarul Financiar 22.01.2008
Alcoa Nadab, a part of the Alcoa group, a producer of electric cables for the automotive industry, estimates an over 30.8 million-euro (108 million-RON) turnover for this year, up by 11.6% against last year. According to the company management, the turnover increase was a result of the expansion of the production capacity of the Caransebes-based plant. Alcoa closed last year with a 27.6 million-euro (91.2 million-RON) turnover, after company estimates made at the beginning of 2007 pointed to a 19.9 million-euro turnover. According to information provided by Alcoa representatives, the main factors that helped the company exceed last year's estimates was the launch of the production facility in Beius, Bihor county, and, the development of two projects for Skoda. The company currently employs over 500 people in its plant in Beius, Bihor county. Alcoa did not conduct a greenfield investment in Bihor county, but opted instead to rent an already existing area. The new plant has a total surface of 3,600 square metres, and production started in May 2006. The products manufactured at the new facility have been transferred from the company's other factories in Romania as well as from the group's other factories located in the Czech Republic, Portugal and Hungary.
