Ryanair not interested in costly airports

Ryanair, leader of the low-cost airline market, which will launch flights from Constanta to Pisa and Arad to Milan in April this year, is not interested in Bucharest's airports, and deems them too expensive. "On several of the foreign markets we entered, we targeted regional airports. In Poland, for instance, we are market leaders, although we have just one flight from Warsaw. We are not interested in expensive airports," said Tomasz Kulakowski, sales & marketing manager for Central Europe. Ryanair therefore chose two provincial airports (Arad and Constanta), which are almost completely free from competition. The Arad International Airport is used by Blue Air, while the Constanta airport only accommodates flights operated by the regular airline Malev. The Ryanair representative also said the company's strategy is to wait before it enters a market, but that it always targets the leading position in each country.
