The Ministry of Transport has asked to be awarded around 600 million euros at the next budget adjustment, in order to speed up road and railway infrastructure projects. Priorities include the Pan-European corridor IV, on the Cernavoda-Constanta and Arad-Timisoara sections, as well as the Transilvania motorway and the Bucharest-Ploiesti motorway, according to a recent statement from Ludovic Orban, Minister of Transport. The sum has been agreed to in principle by Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu and the Minister of Economy and Finance Varujan Vosganian, but negotiations will follow. "We will allocate significant sums for investments, and for orbital road projects. The sums will go into expanding Bucharest's existing orbital road to four lanes, and into orbital roads in Ploiesti, Oradea, Deva, Orastie and Constanta, built to motorway standards," said Orban.
