EVW Holding in Cluj, importer and distributor of DAF trucks in Romania, estimates an around 120 million-euro turnover for this year, down 11% against last year. The Cluj-based company ended the 2007-2008 financial year with 135 million euros in overall sales, a 10% decline compared with previous financial year. "The decline in last year's turnover does not entail a decline in profit. In terms of growth strategy, we intend to diversify our servicing activity this year," said Timotei Giurgi, general manager of EVW Holding. In 2007, the Cluj-based company posted 150 million euros in overall sales, up 50% against 2006, when EVW Holding's turnover amounted to 100 million euros. "We cannot make an estimate regarding the value of the truck market in 2008, but in terms of units sold on the market, we are talking about an over 20% decline against 2007. For this year, our estimates provide for a further 15-20% reduction against 2007," said the general manager of EVW Holding.
