Sixt New Kopel's strategy after takeover of AAA

AAA New Kopel's plan is to sell 500 cars in 2009, and post 5 million euros in turnover. "In the future, we will grow the business and also sell second-hand automobiles acquired from the market. We will make a decision based on the progression of sales," said Dudy Perry, general manager of Sixt New Kopel. Sixt New Kopel sealed a joint venture with AAA Auto at the end of February, with the new company, AAA New Kopel, to sell second-hand automobiles, previously owned by Sixt, and whose leasing contracts ended. Czech-based AAA Auto shut down operations in Romania and its sales facility on the outskirts of Bucharest, close to A1 motorway, following a decline in sales. 2008 saw 1,400 second-hand automobiles sold, half the projected target. "There is a difference between AAA and us. They had to buy the cars, we already have them. We would have set up a separate company for this, anyway, so the partnership with AAA comes as a bonus, as we can use their brand. Additionally, they have the know-how in this business," Perry said.
