One in three cars sold is a Dacia

Automobile Dacia's market share in the first seven months of this year climbed to over 30%, while in June and July it got to over 35%, according to the data from APIA (Association of Automotive Manufacturers and Importers of Romania) and the main car market players. Thus, one in three cars sold domestically in the first seven months was assembled in Mioveni. Dacia in July sold 4,753 cars totally worth around 35.6m euros on the domestic market, taking into account a 7,500-euro average price, down 46% from July 2008. In July, the Mioveni plant also reached the highest level of production this year, of around 32,000 units, according to ZF calculations, in the context where the plant's daily production stood at 1,340 cars, to which the four Saturdays were added, during which there were two shifts, compared to three during the week, owing to German market demand. "Dacia production will stay at the same level in September and October, as demand from European markets within car scrappage programmes is still high," said Constantin Stroe, vice-president of Automobile Dacia.
