Arctic's business helped by exports and scrappage scheme

Consumption of electrical home appliances in Romania in the first half fell by 40.4% to 664m euros. Arctic representatives said exports went up, instead, by 5%, to 49.5m euros, during January-June, as it also happened in the case of Dacia, which delivered over 130,000 cars on foreign markets, a 60% increase. Also, Arctic domestic sales were 28% lower, namely 225,000 units. The company's turnover went down by 14% in the first six months, to 80.3m euros because of the figures posted domestically. Following the same model as the car market, Arctic this spring was the promoter of a scrappage scheme on its market. The programme reduced the sales slump for Arctic domestically compared to the entire market. The trend of Arctic sales is similar to that of the national carmaker as regards foreign demand, too, with high sales volumes being particularly registered on mature markets.
