Industrial American giant General Electric (GE) won the second stage of the 1.1 million-euro project that Czech-based CEZ is building in two communes, Fantanele and Cogealac, located in Dobrogea (SE Romania). The contract could be worth around 300 million euros, considering that the contract for the first stage of the project, in Fantanele, amounted to 600 million dollars (around 410 million euros) and entailed the delivery of 139 turbines, with a 2.5-MW capacity each. For Cogealac, GE will deliver 101 wind turbines with a similar capacity. GE has another contract, worth 215 million euros, to deliver equipment to the 860-MW power station that Petrom is building in Brazi (Prahova county). GE won contracts worth around 1 billion euros in the last year and a half from energy projects in Romania alone.
