Mix, Bechtel: Five ministers alternated when I was in charge of works on Transilvania motorway

Ziarul Financiar 16.11.2009
Michael Mix, project manager of Transilvania Motorway, who will end his term in Romania at the beginning of December, says the slow pace of completion of the first 42 kilometres had to do in part with the numerous changes that occurred within the Ministry of Transportation, as well as to the last plot being expropriated as late as in August this year. "The project targeted the construction of 170 km of motorway by 2008, but there were a lot of changes in a relatively short period of time. During my term, five transportation ministers alternated, eight directors of CNADNR (National Company for Motorways and National Roads) were changed, as were ten project managers," Mix, told ZF in an interview. His term ends on December 2nd, after the first 42 km of the motorway, on the 2B section (Campia Turzii - Cluj Vest) are inaugurated. He will be replaced by Mike Swinford, currently project manager of the motorway that Bechtel is building in Albania. Asked if he was not disappointed about what he achieved during his term, Mix said: "I don't see things this way, because we managed to develop a project and speed up works to the point where Romanians can see the results."
