Takata reaches 5,000 employees at Arad plant

Takata Petri, a Japanese car parts manufacturer, hired over 1,100 in the course of last year, bringing its number of employees to over 6,400 in its manufacturing facilities in Arad and Sibiu.
The rise was due to the relocation of production lines from Poland, where the company closed down a plant, and to the increase in orders from premium carmakers.
Takata has car manufacturers such as Honda and Mercedes among its clients, to whom it supplies steering wheels, seatbelts, and airbags.
Takata, with 269 million euros in turnover in 2008 in Romania, has the second-largest production facility on the Romanian auto components market in Arad (steering wheels and seatbelts), with the plant employing 5,000.
Company representatives say 900 people have been employed in 2009 after new components started to be manufactured.
The biggest employer in the sector continues to be Lisa Draxlmaier (wiring products), which had more than 9,000 staff at its Pitesti plant in 2008.
