Infopress, biggest printing house: The 2009 decline entailed a significant overcapacity on the market

Representatives of Infopress, the Odorhei-based printing house held by Icelandic investment fund Kvoss, believes the printing market for commercial prints and publications fell to 85 million euros, a 35% decline on 2008.
The decline occurred in the context of a maturing of production capacities of the printing houses present on the market for several years, such as Infopress, Megapress, G. Canale and Coprint, as well as in the context of the entry of a new player onto the market. 2009 was the first year in business for German group Euro Druckservice, which opened a printing house at the end of 2008 in Brasov

"Considering that new production capacities were installed towards the end of 2008 - especially by Infopress Group and by EDS - the 2009 decline entailed a significant overcapacity compared with market demand, which affected all companies in this sector, faced with tighter competition, a deterioration of the client portfolio and not least liquidity problems," said Daniel Adam, financial manager of Infopress.
