Kika at its third country manager in a year and a half from the store opening
Austrian furniture retailer kika appointed Lars Lund as country
manager for Romania, who replaced Werner Grassmann. Grassmann had
taken over at the helm of kika's local operations at the end of
March last year, five months after the store opening.
Before Grassmann, the store in western Bucharest had been run by
Alexandru Creanga, who had been recruited at the beginning of 2007
to oversee the opening of the first store in Romania.
"Werner Grassmann continues to work for the company, but in
Austria," Lars Lund, who took over as country manager in December
2009, told ZF.
The kika store on the Romanian market opened in March 2008
following a 31 million-euro investment, and is located in West
Park, Militari district. According to data in the Romanian Trade
Registry, Kika Mobilier posted 1.6 million euros in turnover in
2008. kika did not, however, confirm these figures. These are the
latest available data on the company's sales.
In an interview given to Ziarul Financiar a few months after
starting his mandate, Grassmann said sales were rising from one
month to the next and that he had changed the promotional strategy,
focusing on the western part of Bucharest.
