Florea Diaconu from road construction to housing

Delta ACM 93 construction firm owned by businessman Florea Diaconu, will, starting this month, begin building homes using precast concrete, likely to generate sales of around 6m euros in the first year, the equivalent of 100 units, after in recent years the company has been one of the main road builders. "We've been preparing to manufacture housing units using precast concrete for three years, which should be simple constructions that can be put up on the site in one month and produced in three months. At first, we'll have promotional prices, we'll make no profit, because we want to see how the market reacts," Diaconu says. The company has already contracted 11 units and expects to complete around 100 this year and 200-250 in 2011. Houses will have a ground floor and a first floor, with a 125-sqm area and three rooms, with the initial price standing at 59,000 euros, the equivalent of 470-euros/square metre. After promotional sales end, the sales price will rise by 2,000-3,000 euros, to which transportation costs will be added.
