Delta ACM '93, one of the biggest road builders on the market, has reached 50m-euro investments, around half of which aimed at building materials production facilities, after deciding to strengthen its business, which has been sliding since 2007. Florea Diaconu, 50, owner of the company, maintains that because of the booming business, he invested in the construction of the company's own asphalt mixing station as late as 2004, though the firm was set up in 1993. Until then, the company had purchased asphalt from other producers. "All the investments I've made were out of need. Had I found serious suppliers and coped with no quality problems, I wouldn't have invested in construction materials production," Diaconu explains. Delta has poured 25m euros in the development of a base in Ilfov in the past four years and plans to continue investments. Diaconu maintains the business he runs is undergoing a consolidation process, after having doubled its turnover yearly until 2007. Diaconu has investment plans for other fields, as well, such as bio-energy and industrial equipment.
