First shy investments in logistic spaces: just 13m euros

Logistic space developers have not embarked upon any new project in the past year, with only the projects started before 2008 being finalised last year, reads BUSINESS CONSTRUCT magazine in its May 27 edition. Investments are likely to pick up this year, after the first two projects, worth 13m euros, started being built, but the volume is still too low to kick-start the market. Developers are now carefully watching economic trends in Romania and particularly consumption, and to lower risks they are seeking locations untapped so far. The first projects launched domestically this year to expand logistic capacities are those of Austria's Gebrude Wiess company of Sibiu and that of FM Logistic French firm in Petresti, Dambovita county. The value of works amounts to just 13m euros, but the companies' officials say they are willing to boost investments should economic growth gain momentum and consumption resume growth, says Claude Faure, founding chairman and a CEO with FM Logistic.
