Founder of Romania's first mall exits the business

Businessman Tunc Capa, who 13 years ago founded Romania's first mall, Vitan's Bucuresti Mall, has exited the Anchor Grup business, selling his stakes in several projects and stepping down as president.

Capa will be involved in one last project - an outlet shopping centre in Vitan - and then completely withdraw from the business, leaving the remaining personal projects in the hands of his son, Ali Capa, who is also chief investment officer within Anchor Grup and manager of G'market stores.

"In 1997 I came to Romania and bought the plots that would accommodate Bucuresti Mall and Plaza Romania. I was the company's founder and one of its partners. I completely withdrew from the business four moths ago, and stepped down as president, as well. I still had various stakes in several companies. I am left with a few plots and with several apartments in InCity," the Turkish businessman told ZF.

He says he currently holds a 3.7-hectare plot in the Pipera area of Bucharest, a 3,000 square-metre plot on Mihai Bravu street and a 17,500 square-metre plot that used to accommodate a furniture storage facility in the Vitan area, where an outlet project will be developed in the wake of a 16 million-euro investment.
