Banks must help reboot the activity of companies that have succeeded in adapting to crisis conditions even though guarantees have changed and risks are greater, reckons Radu Ghetea, chairman of the Romanian Banking Association (ARB). "There are companies that are managing to keep up the pace. Solutions need to be found to help them overcome the crisis. The banking system must aid companies that prove they're able to do something boost their business," said Ghetea during the "Mediafax talks about banking" workshop organised in partnership with ARB, CEC and PwC. Nicolae Danila, a member of NBR's Board of Directors and former BCR chairman, has also recently stated bankers needed to get involved and support Romanian firms with viable businesses to help the economy rebound. Ghetea explained there were some clients unwilling to talk with banks, since they are suffering from the physician's syndrome, namely "I won't go to the doctor because he'll tell me I'm ill and therefore I am not ill".
