Verbund and Martifer want almost 100 turbines in Tulcea by 2012
Austria's Verbund, an utilities group with turnover worth around
3.5bn euros, and Portuguese Martifer, a company with over 600m-euro
turnover specialised in renewable energy and metallic
constructions, plan to deliver, by early 2012, wind farms with an
overall capacity of around 240 MW, entailing investments of above
360m euros. Tulcea is the destination of both investors.
Verbund teamed up with a domestic developer as early as the end of
2008 for a 150 MW wind farm near Casimcea locality of Tulcea
county, and the project subsequently expanded by around 50 MW owing
to favourable land conditions.
Overall, near Casimcea Verbund should install 201 MW (77 turbines).
At this size, investments could top 300m euros.
Another project shaping up is that of Martifer Portuguese company
that chose the area of Babadag, Tulcea county, to build a
medium-sized wind farm.
"With a total of 20 turbines, total planned capacity stands at 42
MW, scheduled to become operational in April 2011," reveals the
project published by the Environment Ministry. At this size, the
Portuguese company's investments are likely to go beyond 60m
euros.
