Average return of RON unit-linked insurance, 5% in the first 8 months, below inflation
Most RON investment funds attached to unit-linked insurance in the first eight months of the year generated a return that topped goods and services price growth. However, there were also funds with negative results, which dragged the market average down.
Though a more visible price increase is expected for August in
the wake of the VAT hike, around 20 funds will stay above inflation
rate, due to go beyond 6%.
Against the increases posted in the same period of last year,
insurers' investment funds do not have better performance.
However, insurers note that life insurance needs to be analysed
over a longer period of time, of at least one or two years, the
more so as small investors react to return fluctuations.
Gross underwritten premiums in life insurance linked to investment
funds reached almost 43m euros in the first quarter of this year,
namely almost 43% of total gross underwritten premiums in life
insurance.
