Romanian companies dominate the ranking of the top 100 companies in South-Eastern Europe both in terms of revenues posted in 2009, over 34 billion euros, and in terms of losses, with six companies in the top ten, according to a survey conducted by Bulgarian news agency SeeNews in partnership with AT Kearney consultancy and market research company Euromonitor International.
"The crisis heavily impacted South Eastern Europe regions' growth, consumption and unemployment. The future is bringing stagnating economic development until 2012, after that growth will slowly pick up," reads the survey, which adds that lending conditions should be eased, and that more government intervention is needed in order for economic growth to resume.
The ranking of the 100 biggest companies in South-Eastern Europe, now at its third edition, has pooled data from 1,200 companies in South-Eastern Europe, based in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia.
The ranking includes 41 Romanian companies, two less than last year, with a cumulated turnover of around 34 billion euros in 2009.
