Cataramă: Romanian businesspeople cannot come together for important projects
Businessman Viorel Cataramă, who controls Elvila, an around 100
million-euro business per year, denounces the lack of unity among
businesspeople in Romania because they cannot present a united
front for projects of national importance.
This is the first time that an entrepreneur talks about this, with
the only such talks being centred around the lack of a strong
owners' association and of a bank that supports Romanian capital as
multinationals are supported by banks in the countries where they
are headquartered.
"Over the last 20 years, no action by Romanian businesspeople has
been completed successfully. Romanian businesspeople have so far
failed to create a strong employers' association, why would you
think they could create a strong bank? Romanian businesspeople are
not able to come together for projects of national importance.
There isn't enough room for all the would-be bosses," Cataramă told
Ziarul Financiar in an interview.
In Romania, most victims of the crisis were Romanian companies
after the Government and the National Bank proved unable to support
local capital.
