Britain's Dunărea Farms gets to 15,000 hectares
Dunărea Farms British group has come to operate 15,000 hectares of agricultural land on the Romanian market following the acquisition of another two companies, Aliprod Afumaţi (Dolj county) and Agroservice Piatra (Teleorman county).
"As plots of land in southern Romania are highly fragmented, the
acquisition process is extremely difficult, so that only 1,000
hectares are held by us, with the rest being leased," Dan Nica,
general manager of Agrinatura, the most important company Dunărea
Farms owns in Romania, told ZF.
The first acquisition sealed by the shareholder of Dunărea Farms,
Spearhead International Limited of Great Britain, was the 70% stake
in Agrinatura Nanov from Eugen Pena, general manager of
Hidroelectrica, in 2003. Spearhead's shareholders are around 2,000
individuals of UK. The deal stood at 30.6m RON (around 8.3m
euros).
