Of the 68.5m euros in online payments by banking card registered in the first six months of 2010, approximately 47.5m euros accounted for transactions operated from abroad, according to statistical data provided by ePayment, the company processing over 90% of electronic payments operated for online stores of Romania.

The company has been recently sold by businessman Radu Georgescu to Allegro group owned by Naspers South-African media giant.
Overall, during the January-July period of this year, 498,500 of the almost 1.2 million transactions operated in Romanian online stores were done from computers located outside the country.
On average, a payment made in Romania amounted to 30 euros, while one made by Romanians living abroad on average got close to the 100-euro mark.
In terms of the way these sums are divided, it is quite difficult to say what Romanians from abroad buy from Romanian online stores. Instead, in terms of transactions, most of them are done for the payment of telecom bills, followed by travel tickets, services, utilities payment and retail.
