Tender for rehabilitation of National Theatre, overturned in court
The fight over the 48 million-euro contract to rehabilitate the National Theatre in Bucharest remains open after the Bucharest Court of Law decided to "overturn the decision" to award the contract to Aedificia Carpaţi and to "resume the tender process" at the request of Rotary Construcţii, which challenged the decision as early as spring.
The Project Management Unit (UMP), the institution in charge of
organising investment tenders within the Culture Ministry, awarded
the contract to Aedificia in the spring of this year following an
electronic tender where it was the sole bidder, following the
disqualification of the remaining nine companies and consortiums
that submitted bids. Several companies later challenged the
decision.
"We filed an appeal today (yesterday i.e.) with the Court of
Appeals and we are hoping to get a court date as soon as possible,
and receive a favourable decision within a month, because we
brought this case before the National Council for Solving
Complaints (CNSC) and won," Bogdan Trâmbaciu, head of UMP told
ZF.
